Hello everyone! I’m really sorry for not posting in soo long… I’ve been really busy.

But today I’m back and I’m showing you how to make a DIY Marbled calendar. I just recently found out about DIY marbling and I think it’s so cool! It looks amazing and is really fun to do too.

So what will you need to make this?

  • Strong paper (normal paper will tear when you scrape off the shaving cream)
  • 3 small nails
  • A pinboard/ a piece of wood
  • A baking tray
  • Shaving cream
  • Watercolour paint
  • Printer
  • Some kind of stick
  • Ruler
  • Scissors
  • Black Marker

Step 1: Printing out the template

I made a template for you showing the 25 cards to make.

Click here to download it: Template

Print it onto a piece of strong paper. This will make cutting out the cards a lot easier later.

Step 2: Preparing the baking tray.

For the marbling you will need a small baking tray.

Fill this with a layer of shaving cream. You don’t have to fill up the whole tray, about half of it will be enough.

Then, add the colouring. I did this by filling a painting tray with a small layer of water and adding a lot of watercolour to it. I chose for the colour blue, but you can use any colour you want.

Then use some kind of stick to swirl the paint around and mix in the colour a bit.

Step 3: The marbling

Cut your template into a few smaller pieces and press these into the shaving cream with the template facing up.

Carefully remove the template and lay it on a flat surface. Then use a ruler to scrape off the shaving cream. You’ll be left with a beautiful marbled pattern. Doesn’t it look amazing?

Step 4: Letting the paper dry.

Let the paper dry for about 15 minutes. My paper curled up a bit so you might want to flatten them by laying them underneath a pile of books.

Step 5: Cutting the cards

Using the template as a guideline use scissors to cut out all the cards.

Step 6: Writing on the months and numbers

Use a black marker to write all the months, the numbers 1-9 and the numbers 0-2 onto the cards. You won’t need an extra 3 as it can never be the 33rd.

Step 7: Creating the calendar.

Create the calendar by either hitting three nails into a piece of wood or pushing them into a pinboard. You could use wood to make a stand on your desk or to hang it on the wall.

Add the cards with the months on them to the first nail, the card with 0-2 to the second and the cards with 1-9 on the third. This way you’ll be able to make every date.

I decided to add this little calendar to my planner pinboard I made in this post: Easy DIY Planner Pinboard.

I thought it fit pretty well with the style of my board. The only thing I needed to do was add a few little nails! That’s what I love about pinboards. You can change them up so easily and customize them into whatever you want.

Well, that was it for today! I had a lot of fun doing this project. Marbling is so cool to do and it’s fun to experiment with using different colours and techniques.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial. If you did, please like, comment and/or share. I would really appreciate that. And follow me for more DIYs and creative content!

See ya on Wednesday!

xxx, Yara

X Perisa
