DIY Felt keychains

Hello everybody!

This week I’m showing you how to make these super easy DIY felt keychains. They are really easy to make, completely customizable and so soft!

What you’ll need:

  • Felt
  • Needle and thread
  • Jewellery rings
  • Keyrings
  • Scissors
  • Pencil
  • Stuffing

The first design

Step 1: Drawing the design

The first step is to draw your design onto the felt. I decided to make an Y, the first letter of my name. If you make a letter, make sure to draw it a bit broader than you want your final design to be. Make sure you can fold the felt over.

Step 2: Sewing

Sew along the lines of the design, making sure to keep a little gap. Then cut off the excess felt.

Step 4: Sewing again

This is optional, but after you’ve folded it inside out sew along the sides again, this is to give it a nice look. Still make sure to leave a gap!

Step 5: Stuffing

To stuff your keyring, use stuffing, cotton or excess pieces of wool/fabric. You can choose to stuff it a lot or keep it a bit flat. After you’ve stuffed don’t forget to sew the hole closed.

Step 6: Adding the keyring

Use a big needle to poke a hole in the fabric and insert a jewellery ring. Then you can attach the keyring to the jewellery ring.

And that’s it for the first design!

Second design

For the second design I made this little flower. I started with cutting two of the main pieces and sewing them together. After stuffing Iadded two little petals in the hole I left open and sewed them in place. Then I used glue to stick the other two pieces to that. I attached the keyring using the same method as above and that was it!

I really like how this turned out! What do you think?
