7 Tips for starting bloggers

Hello everybody, this is not the sort of post I usually do but today I wanted to share these tips for starting bloggers. I’ve been bogging for almost a year now and I gained quite some experience. These are things I wish I would have known when I started and I hope I can help some people.

1.List of Ideas

A really great tip is to have some sort of journal to write your blogging ideas in. When I started blogging I’d often have great ideas but I’d forget them before I could make a post. So whenever you have an idea, write it down and if you haven’t got any inspiration for a new post you can just look in the journal and get loads of new ideas!

2. Tags

Tags exist. Yeah I didn’t realise that for my first 3 or 4 months of blogging. And I wondered why nobody was reading my posts… Tags allow people to find your posts, so add a few appropiate tags to each post. Don’t add more than 15 tas though, because that decreases your chance of appearing in somebody’s Discover Page.

3. Tags and Awards

This is a different kind of tag. Participating in tags and awards is just a lot of fun and by nominating others you will get nominated yourself more and more and you can build up friends in the blogging community, which is really important if you’re just starting out. At the beginning, nobody might nominate you but you can always ask to be nominated and a lot of bloggers also say: ‘I nominate anybody who wants to do it’, so you can just take that as an opportunity to do the tag/award.

4. Back-up posts

If you want to stay on a blogging schedule or goal (for example. I want to post 2 posts a week) having 1 or 2 back-up posts is really convenient. Sometimes you will find yourself simply not having enough time to write a post and you can just post one of your back-ups and stay on schedule

5. E-mail

Create a special e-mail address for your blog (mine is littlediyproject@gmail.com) and put in on your About page. If people want to ask me something, do a collab or just want to chat about something blog-relaed they can always just email me!

6. Don’t only post

A big mistake I made when I just started is that I just only posted and expected people to visit my blog out of nothing. That’s not how it works. As I said before, being a part of the community is really important. So find similar blogs you like, read their posts, comment nice things, follow other blogs and you’ll see that a lot more people will start visiting your blog too.

7.Choose the right theme

This again is very important. When I started I had a theme where only my newest post was actually visible and easy-to-visit. This resulted in people only seeing and visiting my newest posts. Now I have a theme where on my homepage a dozen of posts are shown and people can find and visit my different posts really easily, which really increased my views a lot.

I really hope these tips are helpful. The reason I’m sharing them now is that I decided to stop blogging for a while. Blogging was always a hobby for me but the last month(s) have been really busy and I started to feel really pressured to make nice posts every week so I decided to take a break until I get more time. I’m not sure for how long this will be, but I hope you’ll understand. ❤️

Blogger Recognition Award

blogger-recognition-award-logo

Recently I was nominated to do this award by Maya. Thank you so much! Be sure to check out her blog, it’s very cool!

The rules

  • Write a post to show your award.
  • Thank the blogger who nominated you and leave a link to their blog.
  • Give a brief story of how and why you started blogging.
  • Give two pieces of advice you would give to brand new bloggers.
  • Select 15 other bloggers you want to give this award to.
  • Comment on each blog letting them know you have nominated them giving the link to the post you have created.

Why I started blogging:

I started blogging because I’d always liked to craft and do DIY projects, and this is a way for me to share my creativity and (hopefully) inspire other people, which is something I just really love to do!

Advice for starting bloggers:

  • Make friends in the blogging community. This is something that really helps you to grow your blog and it’s so much fun to discover other blogs. Start with just commenting on blogs that are similar to yours and you will meet loads of amazing people!
  • Try to post regularly. Your followers like to know when they can expect new posts. Instead of posting 3 times in one week and only once in the next, try posting twice every week. But: don’t just write random posts because you have to post something that day. Only write about things you really like, that interests you or you think is fun to do. Blogging should be a hobby, not an obligation!

My nominees:

Mimi

Bekah

Starling

Ellie

Erin

Chachel

Aanmarie

Make sure to check these bloggers out, they’re all amazing!

Well, that was it.I hope you enjoyed this post. If you did, please like, comment and/or share. I would really appreciate that. And follow me for more DIYs and creative content!

The Fall Tag

Processed with Rookie Cam

Hello everyone!

I’m happy to announce that I’ve been nominated to do this tag by Maddie! Her blog is amazing, you should definitely check it out!

The Rules:

  1. Put the tag badge and rules in your post. (and link to the person who nominated you)
  2. Answer the 10 fall-related questions.
  3. Tag at least 5 other bloggers to join the fun!

What’s your favorite fall outfit?

My favorite fall outfit is probably a light pink crocheted sweater that I own with a pair of jeans and high boots. I just really love sweaters. 🙂

Your favorite drink to have in the fall?

Definitely hot chocolate, preferably with whipped cream.^^
Does your family have any fall traditions? If so, what are they?

When I was little we used to go to the woods to collect pretty leaves and acorns and such in fall. Now we often go ice skating, which is always a lot of fun.
What are some activities and events you enjoy going to in the fall months?

I love fall forest walks, going ice skating or just sitting inside with a book and a cup of tea and reading.
What’s your favorite fall-scented candle?

I’m not sure, I don’t really have a lot of scented candles. But pinewood scented candles are nice I guess.
Tell us about one of your favorite fall memories.

That must have been one of the fall forest walks I made as a kid with my family. It was always so much fun to walk around and collect acorns. Sometimes we would use them and make little people and houses out of acorns and toothpicks. I used to love that.
What are some fall movies you enjoy watching?

I don’t know.. what falls under a fall movie?

What’s your favorite fall treat?

Apple pie of course! I LOVE apple pie. It’s a great fall treat, but I also like it in summer, winter or spring.😂

If you celebrate Halloween, what is the best costume you’ve worn?

Where I live we don’t really celebrate Halloween with costumes, so I don’t know..

My nominees:

These are the people I nominate. Of course, you don’t have to do the tag, only do it if you want to!

First week of Art Dump journaling

Hello everybody!

I hope you’re doing good^^

This week I decided to start a new project: an Art Dump Journal.

It’s a journal you keep and the idea is that you do something in it every day. It can be anything, from drawing to painting to stamping to sticking, anything you like!

And the best thing is: it doesn’t have to be pretty. It can be really ugly, no problem! As long as you do something in it every day.

Sometimes it might just take a few minutes, sometimes you might want to spend longer on it.

It’s just a way to let out some creativity and relax, without having to worry about it being ‘pretty’.

So here is what I’ve done so far this week:

Day 1:

dafb65723a6676ad6d4093c683950124.jpg

I started off simple by just using watercolours to paint coloured horizontal and vertical stripes. It was nice to see how the different colours blend.

Day 2:

044f7805c275f5c6ee867dc8bd6df80f.jpg

The second day I drew a random pattern with a pencil and used alcohol-based markers to colour it in. It was really fun to do and the end result is really nice and colourful.

Day 3:

25999e29ca3a3e5436dbdd822029e2af.jpg

The third day I used acrylic paint and put some dots on the top of the page. Then I used a ruler to smudge them out, leaving this cool pattern. This took me literally a minute to make, but it turned out quite cool.😂

Day 4:

43202525be32343daa11179e6c74943b.jpg

On day 4 I used watercolours to just paint horizontal stripes. It’s really simple but it was fun to do.

Day 5:

88283faa44d7b1011735434cc645c2fa

Day 5 was really simple again, I just took my markers and coloured in some squares with the different colours. I accidentally made a mistake with the dark green colour, but that’s the fun thing about art dump journaling; making mistakes is fine!

Day 6:

32b8ab953abb885f186197125e4a4d7b.jpg

This last day I used coloured pencils to make this kind of gradient of colours.

I’m not an expert at all these things, and it isn’t always pretty but it doesn’t have to be, as long as you have fun doing it!

Art dump journaling is a great way to relax and have some fun and you can become more familiar with using different methods and supplies.

I’m definitely going to try to keep doing this every day, and I might give you monthly updates with some of the best pages.

I definitely encourage you to try this out, as it’s a lot of fun and only takes a few minutes a day.

I hope you enjoyed this post. If you did, please like, comment and/or share. I would really appreciate that. And follow me for more DIYs and creative content!

Crafting Supplies Haul

Hello everybody!

b02bed0a83b35aa47e08648ca9d13698

I’m probably not the only one, but I’m pretty much addicted to buying new crafting supplies. I see so many cool things and I just have to buy them. Especially when I’m in a really cheap store and it all costs about nothing, I end up buying a lot of stuff.

So today I’m showing you some of the crafting supplies that I bought.

  1. Cute fabrics

76329804d5572bf8937eb4bc99c26917.jpg

These fabrics are so cute! There are 5 different patterns and I love them all. The fabric is quite thin but it sows easily and the best thing is that all of them together only cost €1,80!

ab43ef217a3522b176083a42042e2d02

I especially like the one with the little roses and the dotted one. Which do you like?

2. Markers

6f046b94ed200a4b864022e02f646be9

The next item is this package of markers that I bought. I love them so much! There are 24 different colours and they’re alcohol-based. They write really nice and they only cost 7 euros! I really like alcohol-based markers as they leave a really solid colour and you can’t see the individual strokes which makes them perfect for colouring big surfaces.

644f3ea816754f9e7796916230ceb8f1

I really like these markers, the only things I missed were a red and a black marker, but they’re still really cool.

I also love the fact that each marker has both a broad and fine tip, this makes drawing with them really easy.

3. Stamps

2278e6a7c23f431d5186abef6a50b451

The next thing I bought was this cool multi-layered stamp. Normally I don’t really like crafting packages but this one seemed really cool. I haven’t tried it yet but you’re supposed to layer the different colours to create cool feathers. It looks really cool, so I hope it works!

4. Scrapbook paper

0de0df1a0f948c968627f4c29cac9011

I love scrapbook paper so much, I already have loads of it but I always want to have more. And I’m in love with these patterns, they’re so pretty! These are my favourite patterns:

56f33e58817752a2ade23e9186f67518

0f8a6bc1a6ce7de20d0e5542b8dba441

0c6068631d4b604bbfe0d6ab8e693205-e1506250580520.jpg

Which is your favourite?

I hope you liked this little haul. If you did, please like, comment and/or share. I would really appreciate that. And follow me for more DIYs and creative content!

I present to you: Ecosia

unnamed

Hello everybody!

This post is something different than usual, but I just wanted to share this with you.

It isn’t like Ecosia sponsored me or anything, I just love what they do so much and I think everybody should know about it.

Trees are really important for our planet, they provide oxygen and forests are the home to many animals.

Sadly, 48 football fields of forest are lost every minute. If we go on like this, in a few decennia there won’t be any forest left.

How can we save the world? Well, the simplest solution is planting trees. And that’s exactly what Ecosia does.

Ecosia is a search browser and like most browsers, they earn money by advertisement. the only difference is that Ecosia spends at least 80% of their profits on planting trees.

I only found out about this a few days ago and I was amazed.

They have already planted over 10 million trees and they plant a new tree every 1.7 seconds.

Their goal is to reach 1 billion trees by 2020 and I really hope they will make it.

I love what they do so much and the search engine is really aesthetically pleasing too.

So please, everyone reading this, I ask you to share this and set Ecosia as your default browser. It works just as good as any other browser, it’s completely free and you can save the world in the process.

fb-og-01

This post was a bit different than my usual posts, but I hope you liked it. Ecosia didn’t sponsor me for this, I just think this is such a good way to save the environment and I want as many people as possible to know.

So what do you think? Do you want me to make posts about websites or companies I like more often? Maybe start an ‘I present to you’- series? Let me know in the comments!

See ya on Sunday!

5 Room Organisation Hacks

Hello everybody!

I don’t know about you, but I’m a pretty messy person. I always lose things and my room is never completely tidy. But there are a few things that help me organise my room.

Here are 5 hacks for room organisation that will make your room a lot tidier.

Hack 1: Desk Organisation

42bf740593697296075e27f058bbd751

My desk always gets really messy really fast. All the stuff I need lies randomly on the desk. And I just can’t concentrate well when my desk is full of stuff.

A great way to solve this is by just using a small basket and putting all the stuff you need in it.

f09a66ee9ff1be604c3b4a75f99c5676

It’s so easy but it gives your desk a much more organised look. I used a basket I wove myself from old magazines in my post DIY Woven Basket, so it cost me no money at all. The rest of your desk is clear of stuff so you can concentrate on your work.

Hack 2: Bobby Pins

f2d03e38cb2a4b0e23a9684d14745831Bobby pins. I don’t know how it happens but I buy a bunch of them and one way or another I seem to lose every single one. I managed to solve this problem by using this little box to store them.

984b61f4961565ea681d4cd2c1e6c568

I don’t remember what the actual use for this was, but it worked really well to store bobby pins in and it looks really stylish too.

Hack 3: Strings

fe23a8313a6e45df2e38924960d4294a

This is my favourite hack. I’ve got a lot of strings for crafting but they always seem to turn into a tangled mess. This hack is so easy and the only things you’ll need are a few clothespins.

Image

Just wrap the strings around the clothespins and use them to keep the end in place. Whenever you need some string you can just cut of whatever you need and put the end back. Your strings will never tangle again!

4: Notebooks

884c5709a0aa85adac7a0da722321600

This is just a really easy hack to organise your notebooks. I have a lot of notebooks for all kinds of uses. I used this cute wooden letters and just stuck them onto the notebooks spelling ‘my diary’ ‘sketchbook’ and ‘writing prompts’. It just an easy way to determine what every notebook is for and it looks pretty nice too.

5: Jewellery.

700fc26147f85127229e0a3b781b07ce

For this hack I used an empty tea box. It was a really pretty jasmine tea box. It was perfect because it already had 9 different compartments and even a magnetic seal.

5d0013019ce6c238f418127221e37295

But any old tea box could easily be transformed into a jewellery box that is perfect for keeping earrings, bracelets and necklaces.

So that were the 5 organisation tips. I hope you found them useful.

Which organisation tip was the most useful? Would you like a part 2? Do you have any other tips for room organisation? Let me know in the comments.

I hope you enjoyed this post. If you did, please like, comment and/or share. I would really appreciate that. And follow me for more DIYs and creative content!

See ya!

Thank you so much Chachel for nominating me for this award!

Her questions:

1.What’s the reason behind the name of your blog?

I’m not sure if there’s a real reason. I guess I just chose it because I do DIY projects and I liked the sound of LittleDIYProjects.

2. Are you a bookworm?

Yes I am. I just love reading books. It makes able to travel to different worlds for a while and it’s just a great way to relax.

Ehm… I’m not sure. I can play the piano quite well but that’s not because I’m talented, I’ve just been doing it for a long time.

Harry Potter, definitely. I’ve read all the books three times but I’m nowhere near fed up with them!

I really wish phoenixes existed. It would be really cool to have a pet that can’t die.

8. If magic was real which spell would you want to learn right away?

I’d learn a spell to make myself invisible. That wold be really cool.

9. Am I the only one who has problems with their blog when they just can’t come up with what to post???

No, I sometimes don’t know what to post either. Luckily I have a little book where I write all my ideas so there’s usually something in there.

10. If you can be a character in any movie which movie would you choose to be in?

I guess Harry Potter too. I just want to go to Hogwarts!! But one of the first movies, so there aren’t too many deaths.

11. Last but not least, lets ask the classic question with a twist, Whats your favorite combination of colors?

I like a turquoise-ish blue with plain white. I just really like that vibe I guess.

Art Journal Walkthrough

Hello everyone!

I’m really excited! August has started so from now on I’ll be posting twice a week and this is my very first Wednesday post!

Today I’m showing you my art journal. I love art journaling and I’m showing you some of the pages I made.

Remember this book? I made it a while ago in a this post: How to do simple bookbinding

Since then I’ve been using it as an art journal and it’s been great. It is already so thick and I’m only on 1/4. I even had to use a string to keep it closed!

I’m going to show you a few of the pages in my journal. I mostly use quotes as inspiration and use images to illustrate them, but sometimes I also try other things. Here are a few examples:

Page 1:

1f77494cb5a822db96ab032e5d965097.jpg

I really like this page because I love the quote and I think the piano part turned out really good. I made it by painting on black paper with white paint. It was quite hard to write the words on the left with the paint and they came out a bit crooked but I found I actually liked the rough-ish look it gave so I kept it. I just printed out the picture of the piano and stuck it onto the paint so it looked like it was in some sort of spotlight.

Page 2:

7387e5b62924d9aa6a2ba069c18e785e

You can’t read it really well in the picture but the quote says: “Our greatest glory is not in never failing but in rising every time we fall”. I think it’s a great quote because it’s okay to make mistakes as long as you learn from them. I thought a phoenix fit perfectly with the quote so I drew one on the right (I did use a reference picture). I painted the red background with some acrylic paint.

Page 3:

4037f8d6d14d27787d70fb12d9668ab1

I don’t only use quotes! This was a watercolour painting where I just coloured a bit randomly with all kinds of colours. It was a good way to let out my creativity and I actually think the colours look quite cool.

Page 4:

61aa5056692abe2e7f45e7086b837e5d

I’m quite proud of this page. I portrayed the quote by painting a small piece of gauze and hanging it in front of a page of an old book (don’t worry, it wasn’t a real book, just some sort of advertisement thing). I added the paperclip to keep the gauze in place. I just think it looks really cool and I like the look of the painted gauze.

Page 5:

d4220b8f71cd1b676627bad6ea5f51a2

This is a different way to art journal. On the computer I made this little collage of a few positive pictures and I printed that and stuck it in the book. It’s a whole different way but it’s also a lot of fun and it’s pretty easy to do. i think it turned out good and I think it’s a pretty cute pastel collage. *Disclaimer: the images I used are not mine*

Page 6,7,8:

d2631d700530b8ca72f4935f0dd550ee

These are three pages that belong together. The lyrics are from Believer by Imagine Dragons. It’s a song I really love and I tried to portray the lyrics of the verses.

For the first page I stuck pieces from an plastic bag with newspaper-print on the journal. Then I took a second paper and cut out the silhouette of a girl and I stuck it on top. That way you could see the newspaper through the silhouette. It’s a literal portray of the ‘words inside my head’ and I quite like it.

For the second page I just used a pretty image that I cut out a newspaper and I stuck the lyrics on top. It was really easy to do but I think it looks pretty nice.

The last page is my favourite. For this I used the humming bird stamp I made myself. You can find the tutorial on how to make your own stamps in this post: DIY Foam Stamps. I just dipped the stamp into the ink and stamped the whole left side with different gradients of blue. I think it gives such a cool effect and it’s really easy to do. For the right side I stamped onto the paper and then stuck another piece with the silhouette of a dove cut out on top of it. I think this looks really cool because it gives a bit of depth to the page. What do you think?

That was it for today! I hope you liked this post. Which page was your favourite? Do you want a part 2? Let me know in the comments below.

My Batik Experience

Hello everybody!

As you know I'm on a holiday in Malaysia at the moment. It has been so much fun and today I wanted to tell you something about my Batik experience.
I hear you asking:

What is Batik?
Batik is a technique of painting cloth that uses wax-resistent dye.
It is traditionally used in many South-Asian countries.

It works like this:
First a design is drawn onto the cloth with wax. This can be hand-drawn using a canting (a pen like brush), or copper stamps can be used for bigger surfaces.
This is how one of the copper stamps looked:

Then the cloth is painted using wax-resistent dyes.
After the wax has been boiled away the areas where the wax was become white and you are left with a colourful design.

My experience
This holiday we went to a so-called Batik Factory where we got the chance to try out this technique ourselves!
It was my first dyeing experience but it was actually quite easy to do.

The design was already drawn on by a professional that worked there. It was hand-drawn and I really liked it.
We got a few bottles with different coloured dye and our job was to fill in the different sections.

This is how it looked when we just began:

You could make the colours lighter by adding some water to them.
The dye spreads really fast so you only had to touch the smaller sections to fill them in.
In the flowers I made the colour become lighter in the end of the petals by quickly adding water right after I applied the dye.

I started with filling in all the flowers:

Then I coloured all the butterflies and I proceeded to colour the background light blue.

This is how it looked before the wax was removed:

This is how it looked after the wax was boiled off:

It was such a fun experience and I quite like how mine turned out. I really recommend doing this if you ever get the chance!

I hope you found this post interesting, if you did please like, comment and/or share! I'd really appreciate that ☺️
And follow me for new creative posts from now on twice a week!

Thank you for reading!

Stationary + Crafting Haul

Hello everybody!

Today I'm doing a mini haul on all the stuff I bought on my vacation.

I know this is not what I normally do but as I'm on a vacation I couldn't do a DIY and I still wanted to post someyhing for you guys. I did a lot of shopping so I'm showing you some of the stationary and crafting supplies I bought.

I'm in Malaysia at the moment and everything here is vert cheap.
I went to a dollar store where everything cost 6 ringgit, which is about €1,20 or USD €1,40.

A few items I bought there:

Item 1:

img_7598-1
These cute pastel strings. 12 of them for only 6 ringgit! They are meant for embroidery but there are loads of other ways to use them.

Item 2:

img_7602
This is just a plain notebook but it was still really cheap. I think I’m going to decorate it and use it as a scrapbook. I think it’d be perfect for that.

Item 3:

img_7608-1
This was by far the best buy. A piece of felt of 60×70 centimeters for only €1,20?! It’s so cheap and I love the colour! I’m sure I’ll be doing a DIY with this in a few weeks, so you can look out for that.

Item 4:

img_7596
This pencil case wasn’t from the dollar store but I still think it’s so cute and it was also just 6 ringgit. I love the colours, the pattern, everything about it and it’s pretty strong fabric so that’s good too.

Item 5:

img_7597-1
These are Sharpies I bought at the local Tesco. I can’t remenber the exact price but it was about 15 ringgit which is so cheap for Sharpies. I love the colours too.

Item 6:

img_7599
The last item I want to show you isn’t from Malaysia but I thought these stamps were so cute and I just had to show them.

This is how they look opened:

img_7600-2
These are so cute for scrapbooking or planning and I’m definitely going to use them a lot.

Well, that was my small haul and I hope you liked it. Next week I’ll be posting DIY’s again as usual.

I you enjoyed this post, please like, conment and/or share and follow my blog to see new posts every week.

Thank you for reading & see ya next week!

Art Journaling – Tips & Tricks

Hello everybody! Today I’m posting something a bit different. The reason today’s post isn’t on Sunday is because it isn’t really a DIY. Art journaling is something I really enjoy doing. It’s a fun way to let out your creativity and create something cool.

Of course, everybody has their own style of journaling.

I myself mostly use quotes as a base and then illustrate it with colours and images I think match the meaning and mood of the quote.

Image1

This is an example of my journal. I used the colour scheme of yellow and found two pictures that fit the meaning of the quote. Then I wrote the quote and stuck the pictures. Finally I added rope around one of the images to give it a really creative touch. I really like doing it this way because it doesn’t take much time to create something cool.

Here are a few tips if you want to try out art journalling with quotes:

Tip 1 : Colours

Before you start, choose a colour scheme that fits the quote. You can choose to use mostly one colour or you can choose two to three colours but I think you shouldn’t use to many colours or it’ll get messy. For happy quotes, use bright colours, for sad quotes use darker and dimmer colours.

Tip 2: Fonts

Always choose a font that fits the theme. If you want you can choose to do this on the computer and print it out or you can hand-letter it. I personally usually hand lettering it because I think it gives the quote an extra touch. Also make sure the colour of your font matches the colour theme or contrasts it.

Tip 3: Images

Choose images that fit your theme, but they don’t always have to portrait the quote. For example, in my page above I didn’t use an image of a bird sitting on a tree but just of trees. If yoe see it you understand it fits the quote but it doesn’t have to literally portrait the quote. It is more important that the images fit the theme than that they fit the message.

Tip 4: Contrast

Use contrasts! Not every quote fits this but if it’s possible definitely try to use at least a little contrast. This makes the different parts stand out and it makes the page more interesting.

Tip 5: Lay-out

Make sure the page gets an interesting layout. Placing everything in a row can be a bit boring, so make sure the attention slides along the page. Try out different lay-outs and see what makes the page the most interesting.

Tip 6: Be creative

Use your imagination! You aren’t limited to using images. Paint, draw, ink, use crayons, try out different things. Use buttons, paperclips, any thing you can find and just go for it. After all, the most important thing is to have fun. 🙂

How do I get inspiration?

Sometimes you want to make something, but you really just have no inspiration. I have a big folder full of images from magazines, leaflets, paper bags, little drawings and other thing I can use for my journal. Whenever I need inspiration I can just take a look and I’ll always get an idea. Of course, browsing Pinterest also gives loads of ideas. 😛

Here’s an example of how I make my pages:

The quote is used: See the positive in the negative

My colour scheme: Black and white

This is what I used: Image 2

I started with drawing a black raster on the white paper with a fine-liner and a white raster on the black paper with white pencil, creating two rasters of 15 by 15 cm. I liked this idea because it created a big contrast between the two sides, but they were still the same thing.

Image 3

Then I proceeded with my images. I decided to use black -white images of wolves because they fit the theme and the rough-ish style I wanted to create. I stuck a few lighter images on the white and a few darker ones on the black.

Image 4

Then I hand lettered the text onto the two rasters. I used only capitals because that fitted the mood. On the white paper I used rounder letters and on the black I used square corners to create a bit more contrast, but not too much because I wanted it to be clear that it was one quote and that the two parts belonged to each other.

Image 5

Then for the lay-ut I chose to place them asymmetrically onto the page, because I thought that just looked better. What do you think?

So this was the result:

Image 6

I think it took me like 15 minutes to make. Do you like it?

Now I’m not saying that this is exactly how you should art journal. Everyone has their own way of journaling. These are just a few tips if you want to work with quotes.

I hope the tips were helpful to you☺️

If you found this post helpful, please like, comment and/or share. It really means a lot to me😊

Please let me know if you want me to post things like this more often or if you have other tips for art journalling in the comments.

Thank you for reading!

Reflecting on half a year of blogging + ANNOUNCEMENT

Hello everybody!

I can’t believe it’s been half a year since I started this blog. It’s been such an awesome experience!

I had been wanting to start blogging for a while and the new year was just a great opportunity to start. Sometimes I considered stopping, but I’m really happy I didn’t do that😊

It all started with this post about a necklace I made on the 6th of January:

img_1-e1498307041852.jpg

DIY Necklace from shells

Reading it back the post wasn’t really good. The tutorial isn’t easy to follow, the images are weird sizes and I didn’t different fonts or anything. Well, at least I’ve progressed.😂

I’ve made 21 posts until now, most of which I’m proud of (most…).

I decided to list a few of them which I like the most here. If you haven’t seen them yet, I think you should definitely check them out.

  1. DIY cute button earrings

I think they’re just really cute and they’re incredibly easy to make.

2. DIY Walnut lip balm

FullSizeRender-35

I’m really proud of this as it was my original idea and I really like how it turned out. 🙂

3. 3 DIY Summer Bracelets

FullSizeRender-38

I think these look so cute for the summer and I still wear them sometimes!

4. DIY Wall decor

fullsizerender-47.jpg

I just think these are so cute on my wall. They’re just so a colourful and bright and look really cool together.

5. DIY Pendant Necklace

FullSizeRender-6

What I love about this necklace is that it’s so customisable and you can use any image you like.

6. DIY easy foam pouch

FullSizeRender-14

Because it’s so easy, yet so cute.

So yeah, those are some of my favourite posts, so check them out if you like 😊

I’ve enjoyed blogging so much the past half year and I will definitely keep doing this. 🙂 I want to thank everyone who has supported me, it really means a lot to me❤️

Now, for the announcement…..

To celebrate this half year anniversary I decided that starting on the first of August on I’ll be posting twice a week!

Don’t worry, I will still have my regular DIY on Sunday but every Wednesday I’ll be posting something else… this could be anything, and I already have loads of ideas. Think of art journalling, maybe drawings, tip’s and hacks, that sort of things. I’ll be doing this for at least a month, and if I like it I’ll maybe keep doing it longer. 🙂

Why start in August you think? Well, that’s because I’m going on a holiday on the 16th of July and I won’t be back until the 30th. In that time I will try to post once a week, but I definitely won’t be able to post twice a week, so I decided to start with that once I come back.

I’m really excited for this, and I’m interested what kind of effect it will have on my views etcetera. Well, that’s all I have to say! I hope you will like my additional Wednesday posts.

Thank you for reading!
