Hello everybody!

Lately I’ve been seeing people making DIY pins all across the internet and they look really cool. The only problem is that most of them use shrinking plastic and most people don’t have that at home.

So I came up with this idea on how to make DIY Pins without needing special plastic.

All you need is:

  • thin plastic (from packaging)
  • Mod Podge
  • Printed Images
  • Scissors
  • Crafting foam
  • Safety Pins

Step 1: Printing out the images

Start with printing out some images you’d like to make pins of. You can choose anything you want. I chose for the Hogwarts logo, a pineapple, a cute little bunny and a pretty flower. If you’re good at drawing a great idea would be to draw your own images too.

Step 2: Cutting the plastic

Cut the plastic into pieces that fit each of the mages. You can use any transparent plastic with a flat surface.

Step 3: Sticking the plastic to the images

Coat your images in a thin layer of mod podge and stick the plastic to it.

Tip: leave the images to dry under a heavy object to make sure they won’t curl up.

Step 4: Cutting out the pins.

When the Mod Podge is dry and has turned clear, cut out the pins with your scissors. I chose to leave a little margin around the Hogwarts logo and the bunny to save some cutting work.

Step 5: Adding the foam

Stick your images to crafting foam of a colour of your choosing. I decided to go with black and white foam. Then cut around the imager. You can choose to leave a margin if you want.

Step 6: Adding the safety pins

I tried to do this with glue but it kept coming loose so I decided to use sellotape to stick one half of the safety pins to the pins. If you have strong glue you can use that too.

And that’s it! It’s so easy and the cool thing is that you can make a pin of anything you want! Which pin do you think is the coolest? Let me know in the comments!
