Make your own DIY coasters!

Hello everybody!

I hope you’re doing well!

Today I’m showing you how to make this super easy DIY coasters. They are really easy and cheap to make but I think they look very nice and would be great as a gift!

What you’ll need:

  • Thin Cardboard
  • Rope/thick wool
  • Glue

Step 1: Cutting the circles

Start with cutting circles of your prefered size out of the cardboard. I went for a radius of 4,5 centimetres.

Step 2: Glueing the middle

Make a little circle with your string and glue it to the middle of the cardboard

Step 3: Filling it up.

Slowly wrap the string around the middle, adding glue everytime you start a new round. You might have to use tape to keep the string down while it’s drying.

Step 4: Cutting off the excess

When it’s dry you can cut off the excess if necessary. With some strings, it’s really hard to get a perfect circle so you can just cut off the extra cardboard. It’s a lot easier with wool.

Step 5: Decorating

The coaster with the string had a little hole in the middle, so I decided to add a little bead which I think looks pretty cool.

And that’s it! They’re so easy to make and I think it would be so cute to make a set and give it to someone as a (Christmas) present.

  1. Cute!
I actually used to make these (I mean I tried to make these) a long time ago,
but your way is much easier. Mine would always fall apart when I would add the glue!
(Yours came out much better than mine)!!!

  2. Wow! So simple yet so cute!! I need to make these! I always really don’t like it when the mugs of tea stain my wooden table, and I cannot find any coasters, so these are so perfect! I love how you added the bead in the middle, by the way. Keep it up! 🙂 ❤
